Orbax Rx, 5.7mg x 250ct Tablets
Orbax (orbifloxacin) is a broad spectrum antibiotic used in cats and
dogs to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is
available as 22.7mg and 68mg scored tablets. The usual dose in dogs and
cats is 1.15-3.5mg/pound by mouth every 24 hours. Use with caution in
young, growing animals as well as pregnant or nursing animals. Do not
give with food.

What is this medication used for
Orbifloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.

Orbifloxacin is available by prescription as tablets
How this medicine should be used
The usual dose of orbifloxacin in dogs and cats is 1.15-3.5mg/pound
every 24 hours. The duration of treatment depends on the type of
infection being treated and the animal?s response to treatment. Give
this medication on an empty stomach.
What are the side effects
Side effects of orbifloxacin may include loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea, itching and rash.
What special precautions are there
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it or other
quinolone antibiotics. This medication should not be used in pregnant
or nursing animals. Use with caution in dogs in the growing phase (up
to 18 months in large breeds) due to potential problems in bone or
joint growth. This medication may cause seizures and should be used
with caution in pets with central nervous system disorders. Use with
caution when given with antacids, vitamin and mineral products,
phenytoin, sucralfate, theophylline, probenecid and NSAIDs such as
aspirin and Rimadyl. Always tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what
other medications your pet is taking.
In the event of an overdose
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room. Symptoms of
overdose may include loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea.
How should I store this medication
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed. Store
tablets at room temperature, away from excess heat, light and moisture.
Do not store in the bathroom. Throw away any medication that is
outdated or no longer needed. Keep this medication out of the reach of
children and pets.
